Toughening or tempering glass is a manufacturing process which inceases the life of a product. In fact, a tempered item can last 10 to 50 times longer than a refired product. This process is usually used to meet the demands of products used intensively, such as in catering.
If there is a whiteish film on the glass or it looks a little dull, this is usually because of a build of limescale. To prevent this problem happening again, think about checking the level of calcium in the water, particularly with regard to the highest and lowest level amount of detergent. Other suggestions to bear in mind: if the glass looks blue, the cause is almost certainly due to too much rinse aid being used; if the glass looks yellow, there may be too much iron in the water.
